Adam Goodrum is one of the finest designers in Australia and we’re proud to have worked with him on Dessein's TAP Range of Australian designed furniture. Adam designed our Parawood chairs and stools, and its pure aesthetic is matched by its perfect functionality.
A man of many achievements, Adam was named ‘Young Designer of the Year’ in 2004, exhibited at Milan Furniture Fair the following year and designed the iconic Stitch chair for Cappellini in 2008. His collaboration with world-renowned champagne house, Veuve Clicquot, is yet another feather in his cap.
Adam’s Riddling Stool (pictured above) is inspired by Madame Clicquot’s famous riddling table from 1816, which strategically positioned bottles to force sediment into the neck. He saw the original table while visiting Veuve Clicquot’s Hotel du Marx in Reims earlier this year. The resulting stool, sleek and perfectly balanced in design, can be flat-packed and fastened to a wall.
Working and designing in Australia, Adam says: “The local design industry feels young and energetic – I think it is an exciting period in Australia." Adam's not alone in this belief. "Designers seem genuinely interested in specifying local product. Consumers are wanting a designer quality product at an affordable price and Dessein offers this.”
Adam has designed 3 pieces in our collection – the Parawood Chairs in a standard and armed option, the new Parawood Stools in both a high and low option, and the Parawood Dining Table. Each piece is made from sustainable timber and is ideal for workplace contexts, casual cafe furniture and more formal restaurant furniture or bar environments.
